Lady Emerald Knights
Score Big at West Canada
The first inning of the HCS softball game at West
Canada Valley Monday night says one thing. The rest of
the game says another.
After one inning, West Canada Valley held a 4-1 lead
over the Lady Emerald Knights. But, that would be all
the runs WCV would score, while Hamilton walked to
28-4 win, their 10th of the season. In the second inning
alone, Hamilton posted 13 runs.
Many of those 28 runs came on walks. WCV pitching
gave up 23 of them Monday.
Hamilton also had some power at the plate in the
Whyatt sisters, Jenna and Sara. Jenna rapped out two
triples and three RBI. Sara had a triple and a single and
two RBI.
Monday also saw a welcome return to the lineup of Liz
Unger, the senior shortstop earlier sidelined by an
injury. Unger was two for four and had a pair of RBI.
Samantha Martin continued to keep opponents in
check on the mound. She struck out five, walked only
two and scattered nine hits.
Hamilton is now 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.
