Lady Emerald Knights
Continue Winning Ways
As Regular Season Winds Down
The Lady Emerald Knights wrapped up their league play
Wednesday afternoon with a strong 18-5 win at Richfield
Springs. The win makes their mark in the Center State
Conference 7-3 (16-3 overall).
Calyn Fisher pitched her second complete game, walking
six, striking out three, and allowing only four hits.
Fisher got superb backup in the field. Coach Bill
Dowsland said the defense turned two double plays and
didn't commit an error.
Hamilton played just as effectively when at bat:
+ Liz Unger went four for five, including a three-run
home run and ending up with four RBI;
+ Coral Dowsland was three for four, with a pair of RBI;
+ Nicole Beers had two hits in three trips to the plat and
drove in a run;
+ Kylie Martin was two for four with a triple;
+ Jordan Peterson went two for three, with a pair of RBI;
+ and Jenna Whyatt was perfect, going four for four with
an RBI.
The Lady Emerald Knights have two more regular season
games:
+ Friday home vs. Otselic Valley, at which the team will
recognize its seniors;
+ and Monday at Morrisville-Eaton.
The seeding meeting for Section III tournament play is
Thursday.
Dowsland's club is peaking at the right moment. This was
their second solid win this week and it comes on the
heels of a marathon week of six games in seven days,
including an important win over league-leading Oriskany
and winning the Sports Boosters tournament at home.
