Gaelic Storm Blows
Into Opera House Sept. 22
Gaelic Storm plays two shows at the Earlville Opera
House on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Tickets are $21 for the public, $19 for EOH
members, and $16 for students.  

For the past 10 years, Gaelic Storm has taken
traditional Irish melodies and acoustic instruments and
created original songs and arrangements full of life and
rhythm.  Known for their energetic live performances,
Gaelic Storm has become a popular Celtic band.  

The band has toured the world, having appeared with
Cowboy Mouth, Tonic, Sister Hazel, Gavin Degraw,
Better Than Ezra, and Marc Broussard.

Their five albums have all appeared on the Billboard
World Music Chart and their most recent album,
Bring Yer Wellies (2006), debuted at number two, 16
on the Internet Sales Chart, and 31 on the
Independent Album Chart.  In addition to recording
and touring, the band's documentary regularly airs on
Cinemax, and they have appeared numerous times on
national and international television.

Founded in 1996 by Patrick Murphy and Steve
Wehmeyer, the band now consists of:

Patrick Murphy of Cork City, Ireland plays piano,
accordion, spoons, and harmonica and sings vocals;  

Steve Wehmeyer from New York plays the bodhran,
didgeridoo, and sings vocals;  

Englishman Steve Twigger is featured on vocals, guitar,
mandolin, and bouzouki;

Percussionist Ryan Lacey, who graduated from the Los
Angeles Music Academy;

Pete Purvis from Ontario plays the uillean pipes, tin
whistle, daeger pipes and highland pipes;

Jessie Burns, the band’s new fiddle player joined the
band a few months ago.
