If you have to be out of town next month but still want to vote in the village election, there's a solution. The Village Office has absentee ballot applications and voter registration forms available at the front window. The election for two trustee seats and the position of village justice will be held June 15.

The Southern Madison County Volunteer Ambulance Corps -- a.k.a. SOMAC -- hosts an open house next Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at its facility at 88 Lebanon Street. The open house is followed by SOMAC's annual meeting that will begin at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. During the open house volunteers and staff will demonstrate equipment, give tours of the facility and show off the ambulances as well as encourage the public to consider becoming a member of our volunteer corp.

The Chenango Nursery School will hold a farm tour from 9 a.m. to noon. The tour starts and map pick up is at the school -- 59 W. Kendrick St. -- and there are several farms on the tour including dairy, horse, sheep, and vegetable farms. Admission is $5 per person or $15 per family. Proceeds benefit the school.
