A number of HCS music students participated in the NYSSMA Festival in Norwich recently. Three students out of 30 who performed received perfect scores on the most difficult level of music: Dana Bowers on voice, Izzy Herold on viola, and Keslie Nolen on tenor sax playing a duet with Sherburne-Earlville student Chris Weinell on alto sax.

The HCS 2010-2011 budget passed 365-162 tonight. And, first-time candidate Molly Johnson (in photo) was overwhelmingly elected with 421 votes. Incumbent Bob Pils was returned to office with 283. Details to come.

Magnets. Slinkys. Mold. Dinosaurs. And, of course, volcanoes filled the HCS cafeteria Wednesday. It was the elementary school's annual Science & Technology Fair.

HCS Secondary Principal Tom Lutsic this morning confirmed that the appearance by the band Lovesick Radio and the "Invade Your Prom" event by KISS-FM have not been canceled. The very active rumor mill has suggested the entertainment was canceled. That is not true. Lutsic said he had no idea how the rumor got started.

Emily Truett, who crafted the video seeking a band for prom, reports that while Hamiton leads other schools in the voting, HCS is now just ahead by 6 percentage points. Voting continues through 2 p.m. Friday.
