Zimmer Sells New Times

Hamilton native Art Zimmer is passing the torch of alternative publishing in Central New York.

For many years, Zimmer, 71, has been the publisher of the Syracuse New Times, which was founded in 1969. However, he recently sold the publication, which prints some 46,00 copies a week, to Cazenovian, Bill Brod.

Zimmer acquired the New Times in 1984.

The Syracuse Post Standard reports that Zimmer will stay on as a consultant. He will continue to manage his Zimmer Motor Car Company

Brod is a Republican politician who endorsed conservative GOP member Doug Hoffmann in the election to fill John McHugh's congressional seat when he was apppointed Secretary of the Army by President Barrack Obama. he has also worked for the C&S Companies and has worked for Pass & Seymour/Legrand and Syracuse Supply
