Watertown Businessman Seeks Congressional Seat

A self-proclaimed fiscal conservative businessman from Watertown is the latest addition to the race to represent the second largest congressional district in the US: ours, the 23rd.

The 39-year-old Matt Doheny, 39, yesterday announced he is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence nominations. Incumbent Rep. William Owens, a Democrat from Plattsburgh is seeking reelection. The third declared candidate, also seeking the stamps of approval from the the GOP, Conservative and Independence parties is the Saranac Lake businessman Doug Hoffman, who narrowly lost to Owens last November.

The 23rd Congressional District covers much of the middle of the state from Earlville to Plattsburgh.
