Village Board Considers Budget, Zoning Law Change Tuesday

Mon, Apr 12, 2010

The Village Board of Trustees will hold a pubic hearing Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the 2010-2011 budget. In its regular meeting that follows, the board will discuss and possibly act on the recent suggested change in the zoning law.

Clerk Ronda Winn says the budget totals $7,521,760. The general fund budget is $2,471,800. The tax levy of $1,353,933 includes a .01 percent increase to $12.84 per $1,000.

The zoning law change is being sought as a result of impending changes at the Colgate Inn. The village Planning Board is requesting the wording in the law be changed to make the number of parking spaces for hotels/motels/inns in the B-1 zone be "desirable" and not "required".

The change is sought because the Colgate Inn plans to make numerous renovations, which would require the addition of additional parking spaces under the law as it is now written. Because there is not sufficient space on the existing property, the planning board is asking that increasing parking be optional and not required.

(The inn's renovation plans call for the creation of 30 more parking spaces.)
