Tennis Team Downs W'morland Twice

The HCS tennis team improved to 9-4 overall and 8-2 in league play Tuesday by beating Westmoreland twice.

In the completion of a rain-delayed match started on April 26 at Westmoreland, Hamilton defeated Westmoreland 4-1.

  • 1st Singles: Mike Hartwell (W) defeated Josh Valencia (HCS) 6-0, 0-6, 6-3.
  • 2nd Singles: Tommy Bodnar (HCS) defeated Ryan Dunning (W) 6-3, 6-1.
  • 3rd Singles: Andrew Powrie (HCS) defeated Scott Shomley (W) 6-1, 6-0.
  • 1st Doubles: David Schutt/John Valencia (HCS) defeated Ryan Murphy/Connor Acee (W) 6-4, 6-4
  • 2nd Doubles: Alan Schult/Bailey O'Keeffe (HCS) defeated Robert Muggeo/Alex Lallier (W) 6-1, 6-0.

In today's match, Hamilton again defeated Westmoreland, 3-2.

  • 1st Singles: Josh Valencia (HCS) defeated Ryan Dunning (W) 6-0, 6-0.
  • 2nd Singles: Tommy Bodnar (HCS) defeated Ryan Murphy (W) 6-2, 6-0.
  • 3rd Singles: Andrew Powrie (HCS) defeated Connor Acee (W) 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
  • 1st Doubles: Mike Hartwell/Josh Tayefeh (W) defeated David Schutt/John Valencia (HCS) 6-1, 6-0.
  • 2nd Doubles: Ian Dunning/Tyler Witter (W) defeated Alan Schult/Bailey O'Keeffe (HCS) 6-1, 6-3.

Today's match came down to third singles with the match tied 2-2 and HCS' Andrew Powrie having dropped the first set, Powrie rallied to win the last two sets and the match.
