Still Curious After 70 Years

The Colgate Bookstore will hold a celebration of everyone's favorite monkey Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Palace Theater.

Curiosity Day is a celebration of curiosity and reading, on the 70th birthday of everyone's favorite mischievous monkey -- Curious George. Children of all ages and their families are invited to the party to meet Curious George in person. Grown-ups are welcome to bring their cameras and take their child's picture with George.

In addition to the exciting opportunity to meet George, participants will also have the chance to:

  • listen to Curious George stories read aloud by community storytellers Joan Ford and Nancy Heck;
  • do crafts and activities based on the Curious George stories;
  • get a Curious George tattoo (temporary, of course);
  • sign George's giant birthday card;
  • have a snack;
  • enter to win a DVD of "Curious George: Back to School" which includes 8 shows from the Curious George PBS kids TV series or "The Complete Adventures of Curious George" on audiobook.

This event is free and open to children and their families. All Curious George books will be on sale for 20 percent off at the event.
George will stamp all books (purchased at the event or brought from home) with a special stamp.
