HCS Wins Division III Softball Championship With 9-6 Win

The HCS softball team won the Center State Conference Division III Championhsip Wednesday when it defeated Morrisville-Eaton 9-6 at home on senior recognition day. This is the second straight win that Coach Bill Dowsland's team won the title.

Senior Sam Martin and seventh grader Becca Rogers combined for the win. The two allowed nine hits, with nine strike-outs and one walk. The other half of the HCS battery was Katherine Keever (shown making a putout at home in the photo).

Hitters:  

  • Rachel Holcomb, 1 for 4, scored 1x
  • Sara Whyatt ,1 for 4, scored 1 time;
  • Jenna Whyatt, 2 for 4 including a triple, scored 1 time;
  • Jordan Peterson, 2 for 4, scored 2times, 1 RBI;
  • Kaitlyn Askew, 3 for 3, scored 2 times, 1 RBI;
  • Rebecca Rogers, 3 for 3 including a double, scored once, 3 RBI's.  

The win means HCS is now 16-2 overall, 8-1 in the division, with one league game remaining with West Canada tomorrow.

Also on Wednesday, five seniors played their final regular season home game (see video above). They included:

  • Kaitylyn Askew;
  • Hillary Hanson;
  • Samantha Martin;
  • Alsion Hansen;
  • and Jenna Whyatt.
