Updated: Softball Bats Explode; HCS Wins 14-5

It was over shortly after it started.

The HCS softball team expoded for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and that was all it took to exact a little payback from Westmoreland for the Lady Emerald Knights only league loss of the year. Hamilton posted the 14-5 home win Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Samantha Martin pitched the complete game win, striking out six, while allowing only one walk to remain undefeated on the season (6-0).

Hamilton's bats continue to be hot, slapping out 15 hits including a slew of estra base hits.

"We really come out ripping the ball in the first inning," said Coach Bill Dowsland.  "Katie Weeks (in file photo) set the tone with a lead-off double, followed by three straigh singles and then Jordan's (Peterson) monster three-run home run. Weeksy then finished the inning with another home run. The girls were really pumped to play today and avenge this loss."

Hamilton's hitters included:

  • Katie Weeks was 3 for 4 with a double and home-run, scored 2 times, 4 RBI's;
  • Rachel Holcomb was 2 for 5, scored 2 times;
