RFH 2010, To the Editor

Sam Says Thanks

Tue, Aug 02, 2011

On June 21, voters in the Village of Hamilton elected Anne Clauss and Deborah Kliman village trustees.  I extended my congratulations to both after the votes were made official and I again offer my best wishes to both.

My campaign had just six weeks for people to learn of my experience, my motivation, and realize that I would be a candidate whose word could be trusted. I am proud of the effort on my behalf by so many people whose collective wisdom, tireless work, and personal sacrifice helped convince a large number of voters to make me their choice for village trustee.

  • To the many homeowners who allowed me to place signs on their property, I say thank you.
  • To the many tireless supporters who carried my petitions to run on the Your Voice line, and later to walk with me as I went door-to-door campaigning, I say thank you.
  • To the many who allowed that infamous banner to be stretched across their front yards, I say thank you.
  • To the many who wrote letters in support of my candidacy, I say thank you.
  • To the many who contributed their time to offer their counsel, I say thank you.
  • To the many who introduced me to their friends and neighbors at the Farmer’s Market, I say thank you.
  • To the Republican Party members who worked with me from the very start, I say thank you.
  • To the many Democrats and independent voters who saved one of their votes for me, I say thank you.
  • To those who edited my materials and provided financial advice, I say thank you.
  • To those who opened their checkbooks to fund my campaign, I say thank you.
  • To the many who responded to my question, “What would you like to see in Hamilton that would make your life better”, I will make every effort to bring your suggestions to fruition, and I say thank you.
  • To those who joined me on election night, your laughter was music and though tears flowed, you kept your spirits high and urged me to honor my pledge to make Hamilton a better place for all residents, I say thank you.
  • To those who toiled without fanfare, who called, sent daily messages via e- mail, and stopped to encourage me to be their voice, I say thank you.
  • And to Mayor Margaret Miller who gave me the opportunity to be a trustee, I am honored to have your confidence, and I say thank you.

It is a privilege to serve this very special community and very special people.
