Seventh grade pitcher Rebecca Rogers threw the first no-hitter of what ought to be an outstanding softball career for the HCS Lady Emerald Knights.

Seventh grade pitcher Rebecca Rogers (photo at left) threw a no-hitter Wednesday to lead HCS to a 21-4 home victory over Richfield Springs.

The win makes Coach Bill Dowsland's squad 6-1 in the league and 9-2 overall.

Rogers gave up the four runs on seven walks, but more than made up for it with 15 strike outs.

The other half of Hamilton's powerful pair of pitchers, Samantha Martin (in photo below), who plays third when not on the mound, drilled a grand slam home run Wednesday. It was the second of her career. She ended up 2-6. adding a double, five RBI's and scoring twice.

The rest of Hamilton's hitting: 

  • Katie Weeks was 2 for 4, scored 3 times, 1 RBI;
  • Rachel Holcomb was 2 for 3, scored 3 times, 2 RBI's;
  • Sara Whyatt was 3 for 4, scored 2 times, 2 RBI's;
  • Jenna Whyatt was 4 for 5, scored 3 times, 1 RBI;
  • Becca Rogers was 2 for 3 with a triple, score 2 times, 1 RB;
  • Kaitlyn Askew was 2 for 3 with a double, scored 2 times, 3 RBI's;
  • Morgan Brooks was 2 for 3, scored 1 time.
