Magee Gets GOP Challenger

Incumbent Democratic Assemblyman Bill Magee, whose 111th District includes the Greater Hamilton Metroplex, has a challenger for this fall's election.

Republican Town of Smithfield Supervisor Rick Bargabos plans to officially announce his candidacy today. The 47-year-old Bargabos says he will also seek the endorsements of the Conservative and Independence parties.

Bargabos is making campaign stops across the district today. The closest is at 3:30 p.m. at the Madison County Courthoiuse in Wampsville.

He operates a 400-acre farm in the Town of Smithfield and was recently recognized for his conservation practices.

Former HCS teacher turned attorney and President of the Upstate Citizens for Equality David Vickers, a Republican of Erieville, has said he is considering running against Magee.
