Library Prepares for Art Show

by Barbara Coger, Library Director www.midyork.org/hamilton

Join us for Johanna Sophia's reading and book signing for her newly released book,  "Freedom, Fun, Genius - Turning Learning into Adventure", Thursday, March at 7 pm. This event will be held in Hamilton Public Library's Community Room.

Hamilton Public Library's Butterfly Garden now has an assortment of bird feeders to welcome back the spring birds. (Pictured at left are the children who made the feeders: Alyssa MacKinnon, Gretchen Klauss, Megan, Ryan, and  Jamie Nagle.)

We are accepting art work for our Community Art Show until 1 pm this Saturday. Don't miss your chance to submit your favorite piece of art work! All forms of art work are considered. We have already received a range of art work including stained glass, photographs, paintings, wooden spoons, jewelry, basketry, and a handcrafted doll. Please call the library, 824-3060, if you have any questions.

Personally, I can hardly wait to see all the individual pieces of art work. Our library community is indeed the home of many talented people.

Mark your calendars for a special reception honoring our local artists on Tuesday, April 6at 4:15 pm. This will be one of our special events for our Customer Appreciation Week, April 5 - 9. Watch for more information in next week's article.

Both the Colgate Bookstore and our library have information and entry forms for our co-sponsored Chenango Valley Scribes: Young Writers & Illustrators Contest. Children in grades K through 5 are eligible to participate. All entries must be submitted no later than Friday, April 16at 8 pm.

The library still has Egg-stravaganza eggs for sale to benefit the Community Memorial Hospital Auxilary. At least one of "our" eggs was a winner last year.

The library is open Monday-Friday, 11 am - 8 pm, and Saturday, 10 am - 1 pm. Please call the library, (315) 824-3060, for assistance during these hours. The book drop at the Broad Street entrance is always open for your convenience.
