In Support of Sam Cooper

Wed, Jun 08, 2011

The Village of Hamilton election is June 21. The residents of the village have an opportunity to select two trustees and a mayor. Margaret Miller is unopposed for the vacant mayor’s position and she has earned and deserves this selection.

The mayor needs a Board of Trustees that will help her bring in new ideas, help with budget problems, and keep the tax rate at an acceptable level. Sam Cooper is the right person for trustee. Some people may not know Sam even though he has lived in Hamilton for twenty-five years but I have know him for several years. His work as a school administrator for out-of-town school districts has limited his involvement in local activities until his recent retirement. Seldom do we have a person with his background available for public office. We need to take advantage of his availability. He cares about people. He cares about our public employees and the long hours of hard work they put in, especially this past winter. Sam has a strong background in budget and has been involved with million dollar budgets for schools.

Having been a Village of Hamilton trustee and a village official for almost twenty-five years, I have a pretty good idea of what is expected of a trustee. Sam is the person with the experience, training, motivation, stamina, commitment, and foresight to serve our community and build for a future that we ALL want Hamilton to have.  He knows how to build consensus and how to use consensus to build for the future.

I strongly recommend Sam Cooper for village trustee.
