In Support of Debbie Kliman

Fri, Jun 03, 2011

We are writing in strong support of Debbie Kliman’s candidacy for election to the position of Hamilton Village Trustee. We have known Debbie for many years, first as the daughter of our late neighbor across the street, Patricia Sill, and later as our actual neighbor, when she and her husband moved to Hamilton in 2006.  Debbie is a native Hamiltonian and graduate of Hamilton Central School who chose to return to her home town after a distinguished career as an educator and clinical psychologist in private practice. She has been very active in the Democratic party, but is running in this election on the non-partisan Bull Thistle party line.

When Debbie and her husband Harvey decided to move back to Hamilton in 2006, they began a very “active” retirement, full of volunteering and community service. Debbie serves as Treasurer of Mid-York Senior Homes (Madison Lane) and Secretary of the Southern Madison Heritage Trust. She is an active volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital and a member of the Auxiliary. In addition to serving on the Chenango Canal Association, the Life Long Learning Steering Committee, the Hamilton Historical Commission, and the Zoning Revision Committee, Debbie has attended every open meeting of the village trustees this year. She is fully informed about the range of issues facing our village and will bring a wealth of experience to the position of village trustee.

Debbie Kliman is ready to put her experience in public education, in academe, and as a small business owner to work for Hamilton. She clearly has the background, ability, energy, and desire to work with all the constituencies in our small but complex community. She is a vibrant and enthusiastic neighbor who brings great zest and commitment to everything she does. We are delighted to support Debbie Kliman for Village Trustee, and encourage everyone to get out and vote on June 21.
