UPDATE: Students' European Trip Not Troubled by Volcanic Ash Cloud

UPDATE: The cloud of volcanic ash from an erupting volcano in Iceland will not interrupt the European trip by HCS. The ash cloud is causing airports in several European countries because the ash can be sucked into the engines of airplanes and cause failures.

HCS students take a bus to JFK at noon today and leave tonight at 9 from New York City. They fly to Madrid, have a four hour layover, and then fly to Paris.

HCS Secondary School Principal Tom Lutsic says the travelers are being told the Paris airport will open today. They won't be there until tomorrow.

Thirty-six HCS foreign language students are off to France and Spain for a week. They spend three days in Paris, and then are in Barcelona for four days before jetting home.

HCS teacher Harry Jarcho is one of the trip's chaperones. He has created a blog where he will post photos and news of the trip, providing they have Internet access.
