HCS Loses Girls Soccer Coach

Thu, Jun 23, 2011

Colgate coaching change prompts one at HCS as well.

Kelly Nagle had been hired to be the HCS girls soccer coach starting this fall, taking over for Harry Jarcho who was stepping down after eight years. But, her husband's successful career as Colgate's men's lacrosse coach changed all of that.

Jim Nagle was this week named head lacrosse coach at Stony Brook University, part of the SUNY system, and they will be moving to Long Island where he grew up.

HCS Athletic Director Bill Dowsland said he has started a search for a girls soccer coach.

Kelly Nagle also taught pre-kindergarten at HCS.

Does anyone else think it is strange that so many good coaches and their assistants have been let go from Colgate this past year? The latest leaving was not due to firing but the need for job security. In the athletic deptartment at Colgate there seems to be no such thing. Hamilton has lost too many dedicated, beloved people who did well in their time here and did not deserve to be let go. Shouldn't someone look at the top decision maker in the department??? Maybe a time for a change there??

Thank you for your comment, I could not have said it better myself! It's about time there was some public mention of what is going on. I can't help but feel that the decisions that have been made the past few months in the Colgate Athletic Department by one individual in particular are fueled only by a personal agenda and not the well being and success of Colgate University athletics and most importantly the community that it resides in!!
