HCS Inducts Six into Hall of Honor

Possibly HCS' best known graduate and two legendary coaches are among the group of six people named to the school's Hall of Honor this year. They will be inducted in ceremonies July 3.

The 2010 inductees include:

  • Lisa Smith: Graduated from HCS in 1973, Earlham College in 1977 and Duke University School of Law in 1980 before becoming an assistant district attorney in Brooklyn. She also served as an assistant New York attorney general and an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District before being appointed as a U.S. magistrate judge for the Southern District.
  • Nicki Swan Dolin: Was one of HCS leading female athletes. She was a four-year varsity softball starter, four-time conference all-star and three-time all-state selection. Swan also played three years on the varsity girls basketball team, and was a conference all-star. She also played field hockey for four years. After HCS she starred for the Ithaca College softball team and was named to the college's hall of fame in 2009.
  • Gary Rider: A 1962 graduate of Colgate, he taught at HCS from 1967-1995. He was an assistant football coach for 11 years and coached the golf team for 32 years. During that time, his teams won six sectional titles and he had eight players make it to the state championships. Rider had a record of 360-160.
  • Tom Blackford: Taught and coached at HCS from 1982-2002. As boys basketball coach his teams won seven league championships, five sectional titles, five regional titles and two state championships. He also coached softball for 15 years and his teams won seven league titles and one sectional championship.
  • Adonal Foyle: He was one of the most talented players of the Blackford coaching era at HCS, starring at Colgate and then being a top draft pick into the NBA. He played 10 years for the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, and then joined the Orlando Magic. Off the court he created a charitable foundation and a college-campus-based organization that works for campaign finance reform. Last year he was inducted to the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
  • Jeff Dinsky: A 1999 graduate of Princeton and Harvard Business School before working on a variety of major sports telecasts including the Olympics, Wimbledon, Notre Dame football, ESPN, the World Series and the Super Bowl. He is director of business development and strategy for Comcast Interactive Media.
  • Mason Jones: HCS graduate who was principal horn for the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1939 to 1978, playing under legendary conductors Leopold Stokowski and Eugene Ormandy. He spent four years -- 1942-1046 -- with the U.S. Marine Band.

This is the second class of inductees.
