UPDATE: Colgate Regains Internet Access

Folks at Colgate -- faculty, staff and students -- earlier today could not have read this. The entire campus lost Internet service early this morning.

For most of today email was left unsent and unreceived at Colgate.

Facebook pages were not updated. Tweets were un-tweeted.

Farmviille farms were untended.

And, even the university's face in cyberspace -- its website -- was invisible.

Because of mechanical problems, the entire university was without Internet service until shortly after 6:30 p.m.

VP for Public Relations and Communications Charlie Melichar said "equipment failure" caused all users on campus to lose connection to the Internet this morning.

"We're getting by," Melichar said wryly.
