Bookstore Observes Poetry Month with Balakian, Students

A special poetry reading will be held at the Colgate Bookstore in honor of National Poetry Month, which is celebrated annually in April. 

English Professor Peter Balakian and the students in his poetry writing workshop will offer a reading of their own works and other favorite poems on Tuesday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m. A reception will follow. This event is free and open to the public.

Balakian is the author of five books of poetry, including, June-tree: New and Selected Poems 1974-2000, Dyer's Thistle, and Sad Days of Light.  His poems and essays have appeared in numerous magazines and journals, including The Nation, Art in America, American Poetry Review, Kenyon Review, Partisan Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, Poetry, and The New York Times Magazine, among others.
