Library Readies for Book Sale

Books are pouring into Hamilton Public Library now that the Community Room is officially open for donations. All gently used materials are welcome with the exception of Readers Digest Condensed books, textbooks, and magazines.

If you would like to help sort books, come any weekday between 11 am and 4 pm. Carolyn Dearnaley, our booksale coordinator, has labeled the tables by category.

Bibliomania, our summer reading board game, is flourishing. Sixty four children have already played the game at least once. Thirty three children have earned a special reward for reading at least eight hours and nineteen participants have worked their way around the board one time or more.

Children can play the game whenever they come to the library as long as they bring their yellow reading calendar. Any form of reading counts, even books on tape and bedtime stories. Little prizes are earned every time they play. So if you have heard the roll of the dice and an exclamation “Pick a Card”, you know that someone is playing our game.

John Hubbard’s photo exhibit has been moved to make way for our newest art exhibit. However it is still available for viewing. It is located in the children’s biography area. We are so pleased to report that almost all the individuals pictured have been identified thanks to the community’s effort!

Our newest art exhibit features watercolors and aqueous acrylics created by Bud Bolte. Mark your calendars for a reception for Bud on Friday, Aug. 20, at 6 pm.

We hope to have a butterfly or two to release sometime soon in our Butterfly garden. We’ll put a sign out front and feel free to call the library to see when it will be happening.

The library is open Monday – Friday, 11 am – 8 pm, and Saturday, 10 am – 1 pm. Please call the library, 824-3060, during these hours for assistance. You may also place requests and renew some items by using your account at  www.midyork.org. The book drop on Broad Street is always open for your convenience.
