Chenango Valley Scribes' Work on Display

by Barbara Coger, Library Director

www.midyork.org/hamilton

If you haven't yet had a chance to read the original stories and poems that were created by our young Chenango Valley Scribes, please do so soon. These original works are currently on display in the Children's Area, but will be returned to the authors by June 9.

Story Time will be held in Madison Lane's Community Room, Tuesday, June 15, at the usual time, 10:30 am. Join our guest storyteller, Susan Weitz, and I as we share stories and finger rhymes with preschoolers of all ages.

Summer will soon be here and we have been busy planning our summer programs. We welcome your assistance in a variety of ways. We will need extra hands for our Fourth of July library float, our Outdoor Fun event, Wednesday, July 28, and we are collecting blue Styrofoam mushroom containers for a craft project.

Take a peek at our colorful Butterfly Garden. About 20 preschoolers and parents planted seeds and transplanted bulbs a couple weeks ago. See if you can find the pumpkin patch and identify the other seeds that have already sprouted.

The Friends of the Library are now offering a silent auction for a set of whimsical beaded earrings and matching necklace hand crafted by Susan Weitz. This original set, "Fish Swimming in Jewelry", was most recently seen as part of our Community Art Exhibit.  All proceeds of this silent auction will benefit the library.

The library is open Monday-Friday, 11 am - 8 pm, and Saturday, 10 am - 1 pm. Please call the library, (315) 824-3060, for assistance during these hours. The book drop at the Broad Street entrance is always open for your convenience.
