New! Hamilton Airport Receives Federal Grants Hamilton Municipal has received two grants from the federal Department of Transportation totaling $217,000. Of that amount, $112,500 will be used to create master plan for the airport and the remaining $104,500 will fund creation of a taxiway to improve traffic flow and safety.

Funding Commitments Keep SOMAC Ambulances on the Road It appears that the greater Hamilton area will not have its ambulance service coverage interrupted. Colgate Shooting Threat Case Adjourned Until June 2 The case of George So, the Colgate junior who posted an Internet threat to shoot people on campus, has been adjourned until after the academic year ends. So, who posted what he said was a prank on the controversial website Juicy Campus, had his case before Hamilton Village Court adjourned until June 2. The so called prank caused the mobilization of some 50 members of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

Queens Residents Oppose New Power Plant The New York Daily News reports that a very vocal protest was held in objection to the building of a proposed new electrical generating facility in Astoria, Queens. The plant would produce some 500 megawats of power and replace one set to go offline in 2010. This comes at a time when New York Regional Interconnect, Inc. is proposing its project to supply power to New York City. More

Colgate's Cheng Takes Last Bow With Finger Lakes Orchestra On Sunday, Marietta Cheng bid a farewell to musicians and patrons of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes after conducting her final concert. She served as conductor and musical director for the orchestra for 22 years. Cheng also is a professor of music at Colgate conductor of the Colgate University Orchestra.
